Registration for the 2026 season starts April 1st, 2026!

Student Riders

Registration opens for MCA and TeamSnap on April 1st, 2026.

Ride Leaders

Ride Leaders of all ability levels are required to make our practices safe and successful. If you are on the fence and want to learn more before committing, please email the coaches at 196mtbteam@gmail.com.

Steps to Ride Leader registration

Step 1: Contact 196mtb.info@gmail.com to if you have questions.

Step 2: Review the Ride Leader/Coaching (used synonymously) requirements on the MN Cycling Association (MCA) website >>.

Step 3: Register with TeamSnap . Coming April 1st, 2026!

Step 4: Register >> with MCA and pay the coaching fee of $40. Select EAGAN as the school.

Step 5: Complete the MCA requirements for Level 1 Coaching before July 1st:

  • Background Check
    • Once you complete your registration with MCA you will recieve a link from Sterling Partners to complete your background check.  That link is only good for 72 hours, so please complete that step as soon as possible.
  • Waiver/Participant Agreement
  • Online Course: Abuse Awareness Training (1-1.5 hours)
  • Online Course: Concussion Training (30 minutes)
  • Online Course: Youth Development Through Cycling (1-1.5 hours)
  • In-person Bike Skills Course: Mountain Bike Skills 1 (offered for free through MCA or though the 196 MTB team)
    • MCA will post (not posted yet) the in-person Mountain Bike Skills (MBS) courses at Mountain Bike Skills >>. MBS courses are a FANTASTIC way to learn how to teach skills riders need to be successful on the trail. Many of us are great at mountain biking, but all of us can learn to become better teachers.  Highly recommend.
