The following table breaks down the costs to join and participate on the 196MTB team. See tiered pricing for race fees below this table.

| Eye protection | $15+ | Optional but highly recommended to protect your rider's eyes from bugs, dirt, and branches. Riders may want clear lenses or photochromatic lenses. These do not have to be expensive. |

Tiered pricing for MCA race fees
There are four races in the season, and race fees can be paid during MCA registration—note that prices increase as the season progresses.
- Riders can register for races individually. However, if your rider qualifies for the State Championship, an additional fee is required to compete.
- If your rider plans to race all four events, the Super Pass is the best option. It covers all four races and includes the State Championship entry fee if the rider qualifies.

The MCA Member Benefits website >> provides the names of retailers who provide a discount to student riders, coaches, and ride leaders.
Student riders may need to provide verification they are registered with 196MTB to be eligible for these discounts. This verification is available under "Memberships, Licenses, & Certifications" section of the CCN website >>.
