About Us

The 196 MTB team is a recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization for student athletes grades 6-12 attending schools within the 196 school district and living within Apple Valley, Eagan, Lakeville, and Rosemount.

The 196 Mountain Bike Team (MTB) was founded in 2012 as one of the original eight teams at the inception of what is now the Minnesota Cycling Association (MCA). As the sport of mountain biking continues to grow in popularity, the 196 MTB team has experienced growth at approximately 25% new riders year over year.

With cycling a way to foster a love of exercise and the outdoors, the 196 MTBteam:

  • Creates a safe and positive environment for learning and developing cycling skills in support of a lifelong sport.
  • Provides opportunities for youth athletes to compete as individuals and as a team in the sport of cycling.
  • Develops and empowers student athletes through the sport of cycling.
  • Encourages sportsmanship through competition and racing.
