The captains for the 2024 season will be listed on this page. First the Captain-spplication process and selection must occur.

2024 Captain applications

Thanks for your interest in being a captain!  For the 2024 season, 196 MTB is looking to appoint up to six team captains to assist the coaches with both the high school and middle school teams.

Requirements:

  • Applicants must have been on the team for at least one season previous to the current year.
  • Applicants must be members of the high school team in the current season.
  • Applicants' rider registration for the current year, including both 196 MTB (via TeamSnap) and MCA (via CCN), must be completed prior to submitting the application form.

Steps to apply:

  1. Select the "2024 196 MTB Captain Application" button below, download the file, and complete the form, following the instructions within the document.
  2. Submit the completed document before June 2nd at 11:59 p.m. to be considered (follow the instructions within the document on emailing the coaching staff).
  3. Captain candidates will need to participate in an interview with the members of the coaching staff, which will be scheduled at a later time and take place during the first half of June.
  4. After these interviews the final captains for 2024 will be selected by the coaching staff.

There is a mandatory captains' training session at Lebanon Hills during the evening of June 25th for all selected captains.

Participation in the New Rider Night (for those riders brand new to the team in 2024) will also be expected to provide assistance to the coaches.

Captain role summary

MTB captains embody the values and riding guidelines of 196 MTB and the MCA, setting the example for others.

  • Captains attend pre-season training, assist coaches during practices, and commit to attending at least 75% of team sessions.
  • Captains act as student leaders representing the 196 MTB team within their assigned pods, at practices/events, and overall help ensure rider safety.
  • Captains will participate in riding with the High School and Middle School teams and where they will demonstrate skill drills during practices.
  • Captains are expected to participate in MCA sanctioned races, actively engage with teammates during races, and attend optional team activities supporting their team.
